Saint Faustina was the third of 10 children to a poor, but religious family in Poland. Following an exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, a seven-year-old Faustina felt the calling to religious life. At age 19, she had her first vision of a suffering Jesus who instructed her to move to Warsaw to join a convent. She would eventually join one and received another vision from Jesus who presented himself as the “King of Divine Mercy” wearing white with red and pale rays emanating from his heart. She painted this appearance with the words “Jesus, I Trust You.” She later wrote about the Chaplet of Divine Mercy and instructed others on how to perform the Novena of Divine Mercy.
