The only source of information on Saint Joseph is from Scripture. He was a carpenter, as was mentioned by some of the Nazarenes in Mathew 13:55 when Jesus returned home during his mission. He is a descendant of David, identified as such by the angel who told Joseph that his wife would be the mother of Jesus. He wanted to protect Mary from those who may believe she committed adultery by sending her off to a quiet place. Angels continued to help and advise Joseph about when it was safe and when they needed to leave town due to danger. It is believed that Joseph died prior to Jesus starting his ministry in 30 AD.
