Saint Padre Pio was an Italian priest who was known for his piety and charity. He was the son of poor Christian peasant farmers, and he dedicated his life to God starting at the age of 5. From this very young age, he could see guardian angels and spoke with Jesus and the Virgin Mary. At the age of 15, he entered the novitiate of the Capuchin friars at Morcone. He briefly served in World War I but was dismissed due to bad health. Around 1917-1919, he experienced pain in his hands and feet and shown the wounds of Jesus (stigmata). He was known to levitate during certain prayer moments and performed many other miracles. He famously advised, "Pray, hope and don't worry."
